My Mexican Trip

I finally share on the blog the first set of pictures taken during my Mexican trip, that lasted almost a month.

Condivido finalmente qui sul blog il primo set di foto scattate durante il mio viaggio estivo in Messico, durato circa un mese.

In Mexico City I visited Xochimilco, an area dating back to the pre-Colombian period and in the pictoresque neighbourhood of La Condesa I sipped tasty mezcal (served with orange slices and red salt). After seeing the two pyramids of the Sun and of the Moon in Teotihuacan, I reached Puebla, a nice town just two-hours far by bus from D.F. and could not help but trying the typical Mole Poblano, a dish based on meat, onion, rise, beans and... well, chocolate. Afterwards I flew to the romantic Cabo San Lucas, in Baja California, where the desert meets the sea and the sunsets are breathtaking. I spent my last days along the Caribbean Sea in Playa del Carmen and in the magic Tulum, where I slept in small woodden cabins right on the beach, with white and soft sand (pics in the upcoming post). I loved the spirituality and the innate courteousness of the Mexican people: a deep joie de vivre, that maybe is their natural antidote against the precariousness of life in some parts of the Country and in South America in general.

A Città del Messico ho visitato Xochimilco, area risalente all'epoca precolombiana e nel barrio artistico de La Condesa ho degustato ottimo mezcal (da consumare rigorosamente con fette di arancia e sale rosso). Dopo aver ammirato le piramidi del Sole e della Luna a Teotihuacan, ho raggiunto Puebla, graziosa cittadina a due ore di bus dal D.F. e non ho potuto fare a meno di provare il tipico Mole Poblano, un piatto a base di carne con cipolla, fagioli, riso e...cioccolata. Ho fatto poi tappa nella romantica Cabo San Lucas, in Baja California, dove il deserto incontra il mare ed i tramonti tolgono il fiato. Last but not least, ho trascorso i miei ultimi giorni di vacanza messicana nelle caraibiche Playa del Carmen e Tulum, dove ho dormito in vere e proprie capanne su una spiaggia con sabbia bianca e soffice come farina (foto nel prossimo post). Ho adorato la spiritualità e l'innata gentilezza del popolo messicano: una profonda joie de vivre che forse è il loro naturale antidoto contro la precarietà della vita in alcune zone del Paese e nel Sud America in generale.
