As announced, here are some of the pictures taken during the last shooting. I matched a navy blue double-breasted jacket with a light brown silk pochette and elegant plain blue braces by Steve&Co. The pochette is a present from Sartoria N.H., a real haven in the center of Milan for all menswear lovers. The owner, Count Federico Ceschi a Santa Croce, selects carefully italian fabrics for friends and customers in order to offer a classic style “with a twist”, as he himself likes to say. Definitely worth to pay a visit.

Come annunciato, ecco alcune foto dell'ultimo shooting di ieri. Ho abbinato un doppio petto blu di L.B.M. con una pochette marrone in seta purissima e delle eleganti bretelle Steve&Co, in blu tinta unita. La pochette mi è stata regalata dalla Sartoria N.H. di Via Chiossetto 2, un’oasi nel centro di Milano per gli amanti dell’abbigliamento da uomo. Il proprietario, Conte Federico Ceschi a Santa Croce, sceglie con cura i tessuti, rigorosamente italiani e garantisce ad amici e clienti uno stile classico “con twist”, come egli stesso ama dire. Assolutamente da visitare.

Neapolitan Bespoke Double-breasted Jacket

I finally had the chance to pull off my new bespoke double-breasted jacket, hand-sewn by Salvio d'Angelo, a great Neapolitan tailor. I chose the loosely woven "hopsack" fabric, ideal for spring and summertime. Decided to match the blazer with a cotton pocket square - courtesy of Steve&Co (as you might have read here) - dark grey Luigi Borrelli pants - in a shade similar to the DB's buttons - and my black Allen Edmonds Williams.

Ho finalmente potuto indossare il mio nuovo doppio petto su misura, cucito dal bravissimo sarto napoletano Salvio d'Angelo. Ho scelto il tessuto "hopsack", ideale sia per i tempi primaverili che per l'estate. Il fazzoletto da taschino è un gentile omaggio di Steve&Co (come avrete visto qui). Infine ho scelto dei pantaloni Luigi Borrelli in un grigio simile a quello dei bottoni della giacca e, ovviamente, le mie Williams nere di Allen Edmonds.

I'm very happy to announce that on Sunday I'll be heading to Florence: TheBespokeDudes blog has been selected to join the Luisaviaroma Party, along with other international bloggers.

From the event description:

The party will take place in an open air amphitheatre on the rooftop of Florence’s New Opera Theatre (Nuovo Teatro dell’Opera di Firenze) which opened on December 21 2012, with a concert directed by Zubin Mehta.The design for this huge space was conceived by the architect Paolo Desideri and was created as part of the celebrations for 150 year anniversary of the Unity of Italy. A unique place that offers incredible panoramic views over the city, an exclusive location that hosts the best events in the city of Florence.

Who said men cannot sport bright colours and look masculine? The nice weather gave me the chance to pull off my fluo yellow trousers with my Gordon double monks. In such circumstances, I believe that one important thing is toning down the rest of the outfit with simple colours and/or accessories. No big deal: a light blue shirt and brown shoes and belt, like in my case.

Chi ha detto che gli uomini non possono sfoggiare colori vivaci senza rinunciare alla loro mascolinità? Complice il bel tempo, ho messo dei pantaloni giallo fluo con le mie Gordon Double Monks. In questi casi, credo sia molto importante "sdrammatizzare" il resto dell'outifit con colori ed accessori semplici. Niente di eccentrico: una camicia azzurra a quadrettini e scarpe e cintura marroni, come nel mio caso.

To those of you who couldn't sleep at night wondering about the colour of the pants in the b/w picture (!!!), well, they're neither red nor green or fuchsia (...), but a particular shade called - I believe - royal blue; however I prefer calling it "smurf colour". I added two shots by Tommy Ton from the last Pitti in Florence, with trousers like mine pulled off by some dapper gentlemen. I did my utmost with this tricky colour, but they did a great job overall, obviously.

A quelli che non riuscivano a prendere sonno in questi giorni, chiedendosi quale fosse il colore di quei pantaloni nella foto in bianco e nero (!!!), beh, non sono né rossi né verdi, tantomeno fucsia (…), ma una tonalità che credo si chiami "royal blu", che io amo chiamare "puffo". Ho aggiunto due scatti del bravissimo Tommy Ton dall'ultimo Pitti a Firenze, con pantaloni come i miei elegantemente abbinati da due signori. Io ho fatto del mio meglio con questo colore difficile, ma loro hanno fatto un ottimo lavoro, ovviamente.

Rolled-up Sleeves & Polo Shirt

After a long break due to university exams, here I am with a summer outfit. The inspiration behind these pictures is toning down the formality of a DB blazer, rolling the sleeves and matching it with a white lacoste polo shirt (short sleeve). Hope you like the result.

White and grey for an afternoon stroll in Brera neighbourhood. I chose a bespoke linen shirt, ordered at Camiceria Olga, with a collar that reminds me of the school smocks. Along with the outfit, I shot my new Zanellato Messenger bag; what really sets this bag apart are the colours: light grey canvas and cognac leather. Finally, a touch of colour is given by the E. Marinella silk pochette. I do love white, both in summer and winter, hence stay tuned for another outfit in these shades of colour.

Grigio e bianco per una passeggiata pomeridiana in Brera. Ho scelto una camicia di lino su misura, ordinata alla camiceria Olga, con un colletto che mi ricorda molto i grembiuli scolastici. Nelle foto anche la mia nuova Zanellato Messenger bag, in canvas e pelle, resa ancor più particolare dal mix di grigio chiaro e cognac. Infine, ho cercato di dare un tocco di colore in più con la pochette bordeaux in seta di E. Marinella. Amo davvero il bianco, sia d'inverno che d'estate, quindi stay tuned per un altro outfit sempre su questi toni di colore.

E' una Pocket Kodak No.1 serie II: una macchina fotografica con rullino A120, costruita dal 1922 al 1931. Per l'outfit, pantaloni color avio, abbinati con camicia in piquet grigia e scarpe marroni.

Today who wants a bespoke shirt, entirely handmade and of top notch quality, hardly ever will find it in the renowned St. James neighbourhood in London. Luigi Borrelli is one of the few Neapolitan shirtmakers still sewing with needle-and-thread. In the workshops of Via Fossa Imperatore in Nocera Inferiore (SA), some of the finest shirts are made with standards able to satisfy even the most demanding gentleman.

8 steps are needed to create a bespoke shirt, according to the Neapolitan sartorial tradition. The parts entirely handsewn are the following: the armhole, the collar, the yoke, the gusset, the sleeve gauntlet, the button hole, the button and the cannoncino.

Chi oggi cerca una camicia su misura, interamente fatta a mano e di alta qualità, difficilmente la troverà nel celebre quartiere St. James di Londra. Luigi Borrelli è uno dei pochi camiciai napoletani che cuciono ancora con l'ago e il filo. Nei laboratori di Via Fossa Imperatore a Nocera Inferiore (SA) vengono prodotte camicie in grado di soddisfare tutti gli standard di qualità richiesti da un gentleman contemporaneo.

Ben otto passaggi sono richiesti per creare la perfetta camicia su misura, secondo la tradizione sartoriale partenopea. Le parti interamente realizzate a mano sono le seguenti: il giromanica, il collo, il quarto spalla, la mouche, il travetto, l'asola, il bottone e il cannoncino.
